Samuel Jackson Signs on to Iron Man Sequel

After a public salary dispute, actor Samuel L. Jackson has signed a deal with Marvel Entertainment to play Nick Fury in the upcoming Iron Man sequel.

The pact also sets up Jackson to play the leader of international crime-fighting group Shield in nearly a dozen Marvel movies, Variety reported:

His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include Captain America, Thor, The Avengers and The Shield as well as potential sequels.

Jackson appeared in a cameo during the closing moments of director Jon Favreau's Iron Man movie last year, playing the Fury character that was modeled after him in recent Marvel comic books. In the scene (embedded above), Fury talks to Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) about the Avenger initiative, setting the stage for cross-pollination of future movies based in the Marvel universe.
